Sales Executive / Sales Manager – Life Sciences & Genomics (Malaysia)

We partner with leading global suppliers to deliver high-impact solutions to academic, clinical, pharmaceutical, biotech, and service provider customers across Malaysia and the wider region.

Position Summary

The Sales Executive / Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales growth and expanding Velgen Technik's presence in Malaysia, with a primary focus on genomics and advanced life science solutions. This role requires a strong scientific background combined with consultative sales capabilities to support complex workflows, long sales cycles, and high-value solutions.

The final title and scope will be determined based on experience and performance.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development
  • Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities across universities, research institutes, hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, and service providers in Malaysia
  • Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation and qualification (MQL → SQL) through quotation, negotiation, and deal closure
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline aligned with quarterly and annual revenue targets
  • Work closely with Field Applications Scientists, Technical Support, and Principal companies to deliver best-fit solutions
  • Drive sales of capital equipment, reagents, consumables, and service contracts
Account Management
  • Establish and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers, principal investigators, lab managers, and procurement teams
  • Understand customer workflows, scientific objectives, and funding cycles before proposing solutions
  • Support account growth through cross-selling and upselling of Velgen's portfolio
Market & Partner Engagement
  • Represent Velgen Technik professionally at customer meetings, seminars, roadshows, and local or regional conferences
  • Participate in joint sales calls, product demonstrations, evaluations, and marketing activities with Principal companies
  • Provide regular market feedback on competitors, pricing, customer needs, and emerging trends in Malaysia
Sales Operations & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer, contact, and opportunity data in Velgen's CRM system
  • Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and pipeline updates as required by management
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, pricing structures, and contractual terms

Qualifications & Experience

Education
  • Degree or higher qualification in Molecular Biology, Genomics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related life sciences discipline
Experience
  • 3–5 years of sales experience in life sciences, diagnostics, genomics, biotechnology, or laboratory technologies
  • Proven experience selling capital equipment, reagents, consumables, or services is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with genomics workflows such as NGS, PCR/qPCR, library preparation, automation, or sample preparation is a strong advantage
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong consultative selling and negotiation skills
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly to customers
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and listening skills
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and comfortable working independently
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and basic sales reporting tools
  • Proficient in English; Bahasa Malaysia proficiency is required
Travel
  • Willingness to travel within Malaysia and occasionally within the region as required
